Police clueless in Asiya house burglary, but investigating
GK CITY CORRESPONDENT
Srinagar, Jan 3: Some ten days ago, burglars struck at the house of senior profreedom leader, Syeda Asiya Andrabi and decamped with cash and other valuables worth over two lakh. But till now the police is clueless.
On the fateful night, the burglars struck the Soura residence of Andrabi, the Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson and decamped with Rs 1.12 lakh cash and other valuables.
That night she and her family were out as they had gone to meet her mother.
On returning home, Andrabi had come to know about the theft.
She said doors of all rooms, wardrobes and lockers were open. Subsequently a case was registered at Police Station Soura vide No FIR No. 139/2009.
Even though the police says the investigations were going on, Andrabi doubts the process.
“I was eager to know who was behind this…But police did nothing. I had asked them if they wanted they could take fingerprints from the broke open wardrobes etc, but they didn’t, pleading that we shouldn’t have touched any of the items,” Andrabi told Greater Kashmir.
She finds something surprising about the theft.
“Event though they (burglars) opened my laptop, they didn’t carry it along. Besides they broke a mobile of mine in to three pieces and took away one of the parts,” she added.
“Besides they had eaten the whole pack of dates,” she said.
But the police said the investigations were going on.
“Investigations are going on as per the law of the land. And she is a citizen of this country so it’s our duty to solve the case,” said a senior police official.
He said media would be informed about the development in the case the moment there was a breakthrough.
Pertinently, Andrabi lives alone with her two minor sons as her husband and senior Hurriyat leader, Dr Qasim, is languishing in jail for several years past.
