‘Rs 39.79 cr spent on various works in Budgam’

Budgam, Jan 4: Out of an annual allocation of Rs. 76.80 crore, an amount of Rs. 39.79 crore have been spent on various works in district Budgam till December 2009 of this fiscal, constituting 59 percent of total allocation.
This was stated at a review meeting of District Development Board Budgam here today on Monday.
The first session of the meeting was presided over by the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Javaid Ahmad Dar who is also MoS for Health and R&B. The Finance Minister and MLA Chrar-i-Sharief, A. R. Rather, Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Rohulla, MLA Khan Sahib, Hakim Yasin and MLA Chadoora, Javaid Mustafa Mir were present in the meeting.
Detailing the achievements registered in the district so far the DDC, Budgam, Muhammad Rafi said that out of Rs. 9.78 crore, an amount of Rs. 7.4 crore have been spent on various road projects while Rs. 2.26 crore have been spent on new and under execution water supply schemes in the district till December 2009. Regarding Education, DDC said Rs. 14.96 crore have been incurred under SSA and other educational schemes out of Rs. 23.15 crore.
Later, addressing the meeting, the chairman of the board and Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir urged upon the district officers to re-double their efforts for achieving targets fixed in the district. He said agriculture land should not be utilized for construction purposes as it would effect the agriculture production in the state. He said in case of any requirement and need, the concerned should approach the government for the purpose.
