Eventful year
2009 witnessed many events. It was some influential people like SPS Rathore being punished for molesting a girl named Ruchika. However, justice was denied in the Shopian double rape and murder case in the same year after the CBI came out with its own “drowning theory.” Also, the Liberhan Commission finally tabled its report regarding demolition of Babri Masjid after 16 years. Overall it was observed that crime rate has increased in 2009. According to National Crimes Records Bureau (NCRB) seven out of ten fastest rising crimes in India were committed against women. Justice however is delayed in almost all cases.
