Remote village electrification program kick-starts

Budgam, Jan 5: Minister for Science and technology, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Rohulla inaugurated Remote Village Electrification (RVE) programme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India (GoI) at Budgam today. Under the programme solar home lighting systems, in remote un-electrified census villages are being provided. These un-electrified villages are identified by State PDD and vetted by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Government of India. JAKEDA has prepared a data base of all such villages of state and submitted them to MNRE, GoI for accord of sanction, an official statement said.
 Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said that under the programme MNRE, GoI has sanctioned a programme of providing 12378 SHLs in 68 un-electrified census villages of state with a financial assistance upto 80% of the cost of the project. In district Budgam, JAKEDA is providing 787 SHLs in four villages of block Khansahib. The villages which are covered under the programme in district Budgam are Ringzabal, Chill, Brass and Checkmarg Aryzal.
 The Minister highlighted the need of the renewable energy resources in domestic and commercial sectors especially in the changing global scenario. He said that state and central government is committed for providing basic needs of those state people who are residing in far-flung areas.
 On this occasion, among others, who were present Additional Commissioner, CEO, JAKEDA, Fida Hussain and other officers of Rural Development, JAKEDA and district administration.
