Jammu, Jan 7: Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar has said the government was committed to facilitate better administration of various religious bodies and management of their properties in the State.
He was addressing representatives of various Sikh organizations in a meeting held today to discuss holding of elections to State Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Board.
Sagar said the government was of the view that all religious bodies or boards should function smoothly so that aspirations of every community of the State are projected properly.
He said that by holding elections, true representatives of the communities can come forward and contribute their bit in making different boards run in a proper and scientific manner.
He assured all the representatives that elections to the Board would be held soon in free and fair manner. He hoped that the new Body constituted thereon would whole-heartedly work for the benefit of Sikh community.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Gurudwaras and Religious Endowment Act 1973 provides for facilitating better administration of Sikh Gurudwaras in Jammu and Kashmir and their properties across the State.
