'Militant killed near LoC'

Srinagar, June 30: A militant was Tuesday killed in an encounter with security forces near the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The encounter took place at Doorusa Top under Sogam police station, 130 kms from here, in which the militant was killed.
Another gunbattle between militants and security forces took place this morning near LoC at Danna-Behak in Nowgam sector under Handwara police station, 80 kms from here, they said. Five infiltrators and three army jawans were killed in Nowgam sector on June 28 when the army foiled an infiltration bid from across the border, police said.
An army soldier was injured in mine blast that occurred near a forward post in Mendhar sector near LoC on Wednesday. The injured soldier was shifted to hospital soon after the incident and his condition was stated to be out of danger.
