Not holy

The presenting of AFSPA as a “holy book for the armed forces” by the Army’s Northern Command Chief Lt. General BS Jaiswal was strongly opposed by every quarter of the valley. Now terming AFSPA as a “misunderstood act” by the Army Chief Gen VK Singh has only added fuel to the fire. When the political leadership of the State has expressed its willingness to make this Act more humane, if not revoke it, the Army is desperately trying to stop any such move. It is important to remember that only change remains static in any society. Laws can easily change.
