Dubai, June 30: J& K Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather has been awarded Life Time Achievement – Achievers Excellence Award by the NRI Institute, Dubai for his “outstanding contribution in the fields of economy, politics and social service.”  The award was conferred to  Rather at the 5th Annual Global NRI Summit held at Dubai yesterday by the MP and former Minister   Oscar Fernendes, an official statement here said today.
 While presenting the award, Fernendes said: “Award is given to the Finance Minister for his significant political experience. He has a distinction of being the only MLA in the state who has been elected from same constituency six times in a row.”
 Rather has been conferred with the financial wizard of the state award for “tackling the financial crisis in the state efficiently and effectively, best legislator award, Dr B.R Ambedkar award in recognition of his distinguished services for the uplift of the poor sections of the society and life time achievement award for his meritorious services and remarkable role for boosting state’s economy.”
 Consul General of India in Dubai Sanjay Verma, Chairman, NRI Institute, Dr SK Pachauri and Secretary General,   Jagmohan Singh were among the prominent people who attended the function.
 After receiving the award,   Rather conveyed his gratitude to the NRI Institute and organizers of the NRI Global Summit for conferring Lifetime Achievement Award to him and said, “I accept the award with all the humility and with an increased consciousness that I have to contribute much more towards improvement of the lot of my people as their representative for last over three decades as also a Minister in the State Cabinet In charge Finance, a portfolio which has said a bearing on function of all other departments”.
