Jaiswal blames local administration for Kanpur boy’s death

Kanpur, July 11: Blaming local administration for the death of a boy who could not be taken to a hospital due to security curbs during Prime Minister’s visit here, Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal today said he will submit a report to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh tomorrow.
 “The incident happened due to the negligence of the local administration. No alternative route was kept open for emergency situations during the prime minister’s visit,” he said after meeting the grieving parents of eight-year-old Aman.
 Jaiswal said he will submit a detailed report of the incident to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi tomorrow. The Minister said he would write to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati demanding a high-level inquiry into the incident and action against guilty officials as well as compensation to the victim’s family.
 He also demanded that the UP government take steps to ensure that such an incident does not recur. Aman’s family had alleged that security blockades set up on the roads during the Prime Minister’s visit here on July 3 had prevented them from taking the boy, who had suffered serious head injuries after falling from a height at his house, to hospital in time to save him. Jaiswal, who is a MP from Kanpur, spent 15 minutes with Aman’s parents and consoled them.
