NC remembers Begum Abdullah

Srinagar, July 11: The Abdullahs and other National Conference cadres on Sunday paid tributes to Begum Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at the Hazratbal graveyard on the banks of Dal Lake, an official handout said.
“Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and the President of National Conference and the Union Central Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah today offered Fateh at the graveyard of Madr-e-Merbhan,” it said.
“On this occasion, the Ministers and MLAs, including Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Muhammad Sager, Minister for Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Sogami, MP GN Rattan Puri, MLA Hazratbal Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, MLA Zadibal, Peer Aafaq Ahmad, MLA, Batmaloo, Irfan Shah, Provincial President of National Conference, Ali Muhammad Dar, and the Chairperson of State Commission for Women, Ms Shamema Firdous and a large number of people attended Fateh Khwani on the occasion,” the handout added.
“Earlier, the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah along with number of Ministers, MLAs and other NC leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the Late Begum Abdullah.
“Paying rich tributes to Late, Begum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the speakers highlighted her role during the freedom struggle and later her work done for welfare and Socio-economic development of the women in the state.”
The NC cadres said Begum Abdullah would be remembered for role played by her for the betterment, prosperity and communal harmony of the people of the state.
