Child, youth drown

Jammu: A youth and a child drowned in canals at Jammu and Kathua districts, police said here on Monday.
 Ajay Kumar, a student of class 12th, slipped down the Ranbir canal at Jammu-Poonch highway last evening while he was chatting with his relative Rajesh Kumar on the banks, they said. Though Rajesh jumped in to save Ajay, he did not know swimming, police said, adding, a passerby had to jump in to save him from drowning.
 Ajay's body has not been found yet and search is going on in the canal, they added.
 In another incident in Kathua district, a class 5th student Sanjay Raj drowned when he was crossing a canal in Chack Dessa area of Hiranagar tehsil last evening along with his father who was physically disabled, police said.
