Have a better and a safer way of protest
This refers to the article titled “How to save this protest?” (GK 2 July 2010) by Surinder Mohan. It was a nice and an innovative piece of writing. The author is absolutely right in saying that we should transform the mode of protest into a lifelong tested form known as “Satyagraha” (Non-violence Movement) - invented by Mahatma Gandhi. I think this is a safe as well as a better idea which our leaders in particular and the society in general should try, as the historical facts available all around the world assure that Satyagraha is an effective mode of protest and has applied by lot of prominent people across the globe. Our current mode of protest i.e. ‘Stone Pelting and Strikes’ has not given us anything and are not going to take us anywhere. The valley has suffered a great deal already. One can construe that, stone pelting and strikes acts like a termite which will hollow and ruin our economy. Who suffer from all this? Not any other, but we! Hope, that we will change our mind and also see the condition of different sections of society and should alter the mode of demonstration for the betterment of the general public. Sooner the better!
