2 brothers drown; lightning kills soldier
Jammu: Two cousin brothers drowned in a local canal in Rajouri district of Jammu, police said here on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred when Maneesh and Raj went to take a bath in the canal in Choki Chora area of Rajouri district last evening, they said, adding their bodies were fished out from the water body.
Meanwhile, a former army man was killed and a house damaged when lightning struck in Jammu and Kathua districts.
Lightning struck a grazing field in Kadytar (Malhar) belt of Billawar tehsil of Kathua district in which 65-year-old ex-serviceman Krishen Chand was killed, police said.
In another incident, a house of a villager was damaged when lightning struck it in Kotha village of border tehsil of R S Pura in Jammu district early today.
No one was, however, injured in the incident, they said.
