‘No Threat To Omar’

New Delhi, July 13: The National Conference Tuesday ruled out any threat to the Jammu and Kashmir government headed by Omar Abdullah, saying it was strong enough to face any challenge.
“There is no threat to the government. The coalition partners (NC and Congress) are strong. 
 There is no question of toppling the government,” NC president and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah told reporters after a meeting with Home Minister P Chidambaram.
 Abdullah is understood to have discussed with Chidambaram the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps being taken by the state government to bring back normalcy.
 Abdullah said that an all-party delegation of the state would soon meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
 The Union Minister yesterday had attended the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister and his son Omar Abdullah.
 The all-party meeting had also appealed to all political parties irrespective of their affiliation to come forward and help in restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
 The parties decided to meet the Prime Minister and urged the government of India to strengthen the on-going peace process through internal and external dialogue.
 Last week, Kashmir valley was marked by violent protests leading to imposition of curfew in several cities, including Srinagar.
