Jammu, July 13: Migrants from the Jammu region are holding ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on August 3 to protest against the alleged discrimination by the state government.
Under the banner of Jammu Migrants Front (JMF), the displaced people from Jammu region-who have migrated from different districts of the region, particularly from Rajouri, Poonch and Doda have accused the government of adopting double standards with regards to the migrants from Kashmir and Jammu regions.
Addressing the media persons, Muhammad Aslam Kohli, president JMF criticized the Government for inaction on their part in providing relief to the migrants who left their homes due to militancy.
He said the Front members were continuously holding Dharnas for the last three years in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office at Jammu in support of their demand for grant of justice in the shape of relief benefits, but authorities were not paying any heed to their requests.
“There is total apathetic attitude from the government and despite repeated pleas nothing has been done to mitigate our problems”, said Kohli.
Front has also demanded imposition of the Governor’s rule in the state alleging that present government had totally failed to solve the issues of the common man.
Front has said that their only hope was now Central Government and they had decided to organize protests in New Delhi and meet the leaders from various parties to expose the policy of the successive state governments.
“Congress-NC government has not been able to fulfill its promises made to the people before the assembly elections in the state and most of the issues have remained unresolved”, alleged Kohli.
He said various memorandums had been submitted to political leaders of the coalition government, but nothing concrete had been done so far.
“Hundreds of people had to leave their homes due to the militancy and are living in Jammu in miserable conditions. The government is bound to provide them assistance”.
