NO FUTURE ALLIANCE WITH PDP: TAJ
Srinagar, July 13: The state Congress Tuesday said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party has closed all the doors of any future alliance with AICC by rejecting the Prime Minister’s advice to participate in the All Party Meeting convened by the chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday.
“By declining the Prime Minister’s offer, the PDP has incurred the enmity of whole India and ridiculed the position of the Prime Minister,” senior Congress leader and a minister in the state cabinet, Taj Mohiuddin told a local news agency, KNS.
He said the ruling coalition was putting in every effort to restore normalcy in state and the All Party Meeting was a part of the same effort.
Responding to a question over PDP’s decision to stay away from the meeting, Taj said the opposition party’s decision has dashed all hopes of any future alliance between Congress and them. “They have invited animosity of the whole nation by declining the offer by Prime Minister to attend all party meeting.”
He said every point raised by the PDP regarding the meeting was wrong and the meeting was never unsuccessful. “The meeting was a success. Many suggestions came to fore during the meeting and government is considering them seriously,” he said.
He said a state-level all party delegation would soon meet Prime Minister and seek his attention so as to bring normalcy in the state.
“We want to restore confidence of people in the government. We will try to persuade the centre that government can’t ignore the emotions and aspirations of people,” he said.
Regarding the deployment of Army in the Valley, Taj said the decision was taken keeping in view the situation in the Valley.
“Army was not directly used to restore law and order situation in the Valley rather it was used in minimal numbers to help improve the situation.”
