Farooq meets Omar, rushes back to Delhi

Srinagar, July 14: Barely a day after the National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah left for New Delhi from here and met UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi and union Home Minister P Chidambaram to apprise them about the prevailing situation in the Valley, the senior Abdullah flew back to the summer capital today and had a close door meeting with his son and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. He returned to New Delhi soon after meeting Omar.
Sources said on his arrival here Dr Farooq straightway drove to his Gupkar residence at around 12:30 pm. Abdullah who is also the Union minister for New and Renewable Energy Resources, sources said later called Omar to his residence and held one-on-one meeting with him for almost half an hour.
“It was a close door meeting between the son and father. Nobody knows what transpired in it,” sources said. Sources said soon after the meeting Dr Abdullah flew back to New Delhi.
Greater Kashmir tried to contact Dr Abdullah on phone at his New Delhi residence but a lady on other side said he (Dr Abdullah) does not talk to media these days.
Sources said the senior Abdullah’s meeting with his son carries importance in the sense that he had held deliberations with UPA chairperson yesterday.
