Jama’at condemns harassment of Kashmiri students
Srinagar, July 14: Jama’at-e-Islami has condemned the unjustified and unwarranted harassment of Kashmiri students by ABVP and discriminatory order of their scrutiny by the Madhaya Pradesh government.
In a statement, its spokesman, advocate Zahid Ali condemned, what it said, the false propaganda launched by the media in MP by publishing concocted stories to further vitiate the atmosphere against these innocent students.
“During the British rule in India, the Indian students studying in UK never faced such a situation,” Zahid said, adding “the Kashmiris have been witnessing hostile environment throughout India particularly in the states ruled by the communalist political forces for the last more than 20 years. They are treated like alien citizens of an enemy country only because they seek their birthright of self-determination and also protest against the state oppression at the hands of armed forces.”
“Kashmiris whether traders, students or visitors, are subjected to humiliation and mental and physical torture without any justification. The hotels do not provide them accommodation. The BJP and other Hindutva forces frequently organize rallies against Kashmiri students to intimidate them. Whenever any untoward incident occurs in India, Kashmiris become the first target of the police and other agencies and are picked up without any lawful justification and are sometimes involved in false cases after procuring confessions under torture. Hundreds of such youth are languishing in different jails in India.”
