KCSDS decries restrictions
Srinagar, July, 14: Members of Civil Society under the banner of Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) has strongly condemned the continuous imposition of curfew in the Valley.
In a statement, the members said the curfew and other restrictions imposed on movement of the people was denial of their basic rights.
“We demand lifting of the restrictions imposed overtly and covertly on print and electronic media to ensure freedom of the press and compensate the losses media persons suffered as a consequence of illegal force used against them,” they said.
The members also sought unconditional release of teenagers and others arrested and booked under PSA since 2004 and implementation of the High Court directions for administration of Juvenile Justice.
“The Army and the paramilitary forces including CRPF should return to barracks to allow civilians to live a life of dignity and honour,” they said.
We warns the anti–social elements who are exploiting the present crisis for pecuniary gains through hoarding and undue profiteering and humbly appeal all sections of the society to rise to the occasion. It is high time to help the needy and the poor in the truest spirit of Islam and the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”
