Kupwara gets Rs 83 cr annual plan

Kupwara, July 14: The total outlay of district Kupwara for the current financial year has been approved at Rs. 82.65 crore, comprising a capital component of Rs 56.12 crore and revenue Rs 26 crore.
 This was announced by the Minister for PHE, irrigation and flood control , Taj Mohiudin who is also the Chairman of the Kupwara District Development Board (DDB) while chairing the DDB meeting at Kupwara today.
 Taj impressed upon the executing agencies to complete the ongoing developmental projects at the earliest within the stipulated period.   
 Reviewing the plan allocations, the Minister directed the District administration to submit detail reports in respect of projects like Rs 56 lakh construction of meeting Hall at Kupwara, Rs 2.50 crore residential quarters for MLAs and officers, Rs 65 lakh construction of Naiabat buildings in the district, Rs 50 lakh construction of Sarai at Kupwara for the people of Tangdar, Machil and Keran. He also directed immediate commissioning of Nutnusa Kandi lift Irrigation scheme.
 In his address, Minister of State for Tourism & PHE,   Nasir Aslam Wani, who is also Vice Chairman of the Board, said it is the vision of the Chief Minister,   Omar Abdullah to see the State grow on all developmental fronts. He said development of infrastructure in critical sectors like health, education and PHE is an imperative.
 Earlier, giving details of the developmental activities in the District, District Development Commissioner,   Showkat Ahmed Mir said massive development expansion is being carried out in the district under various flagship programmers and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
 He said under ERA four road projects are being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 85.25 crore, out of which Rs 57.15 crore have been expended so far. He said under ARWSP 71 schemes are under implementation at an estimated cost of Rs. 121.49 crore.
 Under PMGSY,   Mir said 39 road projects at an estimated cost of Rs 77.90 crore have been sanctioned while as under NREGA Rs 10.86 crore were utilized. During the same period, he said, 1293 development works were completed and 7.46 lakh man days were generated in the District.
 Under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Rs. 37.55 crore under NREGA, Rs. 14.22 crore under IAY, Rs. 10.01 crore under BRGF, Rs. 9.92 crore under BADP, Rs. 15.50 crore under RGGVY, Rs. 8.56 crore under Irrigation (AIBP) and Rs. 28.10 crore under ERA have been allocated for the District.
