Participate in sit-in protests: DM
Srinagar: The Dukhtaran-e-Milat chief, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi has reiterated her appeal to the people to participate in sit-in protests on Thursday.
“People should make July 15 sit-in programme successful as they did on July 14, in all parts of Valley despite restrictions,” said Asiya, in a statement.
Asiya appealed to all the people including the government employees to participate in programmes given by Hurriyat (G) under “Quit Jammu Kashmir” campaign. She said, “The white collared class of people should take lessons from the cart pushers and daily-wagers, who, live from hand to mouth, but do not flinch from offering the sacrifices of their life and property for the cause of freedom.”
Asiya alleged that the police was arresting youth in large numbers on different pretexts and allegedly demanding huge amount from the parents for their release.
Asiya claimed that the majority of the people had resolved to continue their struggle for freedom without caring for the consequences. “They are participating in every protest programme despite curfew and other repressive measures being taken by the government and convey a loud and clear message to leadership not to repeat the blunder of 2008,” she said.
Asiya has appealed to the people make more effective the relief committees in their respective localities to extend help to the poor and deserving as there was possibility that the ongoing movement may prolong.
