Best who?
This refers to the article ‘Certainly not best’ by Ghaus Wani. The author has mentioned that Mufti Syeed has a wide experience in the field of politics and he can govern the valley in a better way than anybody else. Let me inform the writer that it is not a question of good or bad governance. We are playing a blame game. In reality nobody can govern here in a better way unless Kashmir problem is understood in a right perspective, whether he is Mufti Syeed, Omar Abdullah or anybody else. The first and the foremost reason for this is that Kashmir is going through the phase of unrest from the last 20 years and our younger generation has grown up in this atmosphere of unrest. They have been brought up amid gun roars, blasts and crackdowns. Their tender minds face humiliation everyday at the hands of security forces. Our youth witnesses death of their fellow brothers almost daily. It is for this reason that most of the youth come on streets and demonstrate against these atrocities. Sometimes government gives orders of probe but the result is nothing. Kashmiris know that probes would yield nothing. These useless probes have not been ordered only in Omar government but in Mufti’s regime as well. Both Omar and Mufti have been talking about autonomy and demilitarization, but once they came into power they forget all these promises. In reality Kashmiri has neither seen autonomy nor demilitarization. All these things have developed a sense of alienation in our youth. Peace cannot be brought by calling in armies.
