PROBE PANEL LAYS HANDS ON VITAL CLUES
‘Report Will Be Submitted Soon’

Islamabad, July 15: The magisterial enquiry team probing the killing of three teenagers in this south Kashmir town on June 29 has reportedly received vital clues which according to them can lead to the identification of the culprits.
“After recording the statements of four persons who were injured in the same incident and also of some residents and top police officials, vital clues have surfaced, and breakthrough in the case is expected soon,” sources said.
They said that some top officials in police and district administration, who were present on the spot of the incident, have also been summoned at the camp office of the enquiry team at Dak Bungalow, Khannabal and have got their statements recorded before the official heading the enquiry. Sources said some more officials are likely to get
their statements recorded on Friday.
Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ghulam Muhammad Dar who is heading the magisterial enquiry said; “Yes we have recorded the statements of top district and police officials including Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Inspector General of Police (South) and SP (Operations) and will be recording the statements of some more officials on Friday”
He further said that though initially the locals were not rendering cooperation with the probe panel but now many of them have approached us and got their statements recorded.
“We had already recorded the statements of three injured youth , Nazeer Ahmad of Anzwala, Suhail Ahmad of Anchidora and Zahid of Qazibagh and today we went to see the other critically injured youth, Fayaz Ahmad Rather admitted at SKIMS, Soura and got his statement recorded,” said Dar.
Appealing the locals to cooperate in the enquiry, Dar said that a vital breakthrough is expected and the report would be concluded within few days.
Pertinently, the locals and the family members of the victims had rejected the magisterial enquiry and were demanding the arrest of the culprits and booking them under murder case.
Police had in its preliminary FIR submitted to the CJM, court; Islamabad blamed the un-identified gunmen for the incident and later formed its own Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by a Dy SP.
“Some of the miscreants were pelting stones on the policemen and the police and the CRPF were maintaining utmost restraint in dealing with the law and order problem by only resorting to aerial firing and shelling. As, the clashes were on in SK Colony and Anchidora some un-identified gunmen from the Anchidora side fired on some persons on June 29, Tuesday at about 4:00 PM. injuring seven of them, three of whom died on their way to hospital,” reads the preliminary report of the police submitted to CJM court.
It further reads that all the injured were then rushed to the hospital by the protesters themselves.
The FIR.no 261/2010 against the unidentified gunmen has been lodged under section 157/148/336/427/307 RPC. Another FIR. 260/2010 has been registered against the unidentified gunmen regarding the firing on another teenager, Arshid Ahmad at Mattan Chowk injured early in the morning at 10:00 AM on the same day in a separate firing incident.
Pertinently, three teenagers were killed and four others including a 10 year old kid were injured at Anchidora on June 29 when the policemen chased them and later fired upon them inside the residential house of Ahmadullah Khanday.
Khandays son Ishtiyaq was among those killed.
