Srinagar, July 15: As a part of civil obedience programme given by the Hurriyat Conference (M), thousands assembled at Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal Chowk, in Shahr-e-Khaas here and held demonstrations.
“Soon after the curfew was lifted in Shahr-e-Khaas, thousands came out of their houses and assembled at Rajouri Kadal Chowk. They offered congregational Zuhr prayers at the Chowk and held protest demonstrations. Besides, the people also held peaceful protest demonstrations at Kadi Kadal, Nowakadal, Saraf Kadal,  Saraf Kadal, Nowhatta, Gojwara, Eid Gah , Safakadal, Zoonimar,  Illahi Bagh, Lal Bazar and other localities of Shaher Khas. Protests were also held by people at Manigam in Ganderbal district,” said a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) in a statement today.
The spokesman alleged that the police used indiscriminate forces when Hurriyat leaders Aga Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Sufvi and Hakim Abdul Rashid, tried to lead protest rallies at Budgam and Botakadal, Lal Bazar, in Srinagar. “Police also used force to disperse protesters at Pampora, injuring several people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest, has appealed to the people to continue their sit-in protests under “Civil Disobedience Programme”.
“Once I am released, I will visit all the areas of Valley to carry on the agitation,” said Mirwaiz while talking to Greater Kashmir.
He has issued instructions to the functionaries of Dar-ul-Khiarat to gear up their activities and start campaign for providing relief to the poor and other needy.
He has appealed to the well off people to give donations to the Darul Khiarat against proper receipts or remit the amount of donation to A/C No. CD—2615 , Jammu Kashmir Bank, branch Rajouri Kadal.
