Ulema for resolution of Kashmir issue
Srinagar, July 15: Welcoming the talks between India and Pakistan at foreign ministers’ level, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Personal Law Board and the Nudwat-ul-Ulema Jammu and Kashmir, at a meeting on Thursday with Moulana Mufti Bashir-ud-Din in chair, appealed to both the countries to take serious steps for final settlement of Kashmir issue.
“For this purpose, talks should be held with political, religious, social and cultural organizations of all the parts of J&K,” said a spokesman of Board in a statement, urging the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh to review the situation and take steps to end the prevailing uncertainty in J&K. He urged the chief minister, Omar Abdullah to do an introspection of himself, his government and administration and ensure that the incidents like killing of three youth at Islamabad, who, according to him, were ‘witness’ in the recently exposed pornography case of Islamabad district.
He appealed to the people to play role in the redressal of those suffering from hardships. The meeting was attended by the Ulema, Islamic scholars and preachers associated with both the organizations.
