Farmers lock AEE office

Jammu, July 16: The farmers of Bishnah area Friday locked the office of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) irrigation department after they found all the office staff absent from duty.
 Eyewitnesses said that hundreds of farmers from Bishnah lodged a noisy protest demonstration after they found entire staff absent.. “The people had come there to lodge a complaint with AEE against insufficient charge in the irrigation canal  to Bishnah tehsil,” they said.
 Irked over the absence of the employees and AEE from the office, people locked the doors of the office and lodged a protest demonstration seeking action against the absent employees and officials.
 They alleged that farmers have been facing problem in irrigating paddy crop due to non-availability sufficient water in the canal.
 After an hour of protest, the agitating farmers dispersed peacefully on the assurance of police that their demands will be apprised to the concerned officials.
