Media queries about old City amuse police
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 17: The City police believes that the media queries abolut activities in Shahr-e-Khaas are “strange as they always want to know if things there went on peacefully or not.”
A senior cop posted in Shahr-e-Khaas said he Saturday during the relaxation by Hurriyat (G), he received scores of phone calls from media organizations that if the old City was normal or not.
“Something very strange is that everybody expects something wrong about Shahr-e-Khaas,” the SP north City told Greater Kashmir¬ adding the relaxation went on peacefully.
He quipped that the only thing “wrong” which happened in the past 24 hours was that protesters aired a wrong tape on loudspeaker.
While sharing the incident he admitted that yesterday after Friday prayers, the people at many places played pro-freedom numbers on the loudspeakers. But a similar attempt in Habba Kadal area, he said, proved awkward for a moment.
“Instead of the pro-freedom number, In He Logaoun Ne Lay Liyaa –a Bollywood’s yesteryear popular number was aired,” he said.
The official added that the incident as per the police sources occurred when the wrong side of the tape was played erroneously. The number, he said, triggered hooting and the protesters immediately changed the tape.
And the very next moment they aired some Taranas typical of ‘90s era in Kashmir.
