Be practical

With the onset of 21st century world is witnessing a tremendous change. However, the ideals of so-called democracy have not changed. Democracy aims at equality of power and justice. Any civilized nation should embrace ideals of justice in practice otherwise the natural balance is altered. And if not embraced, undesirable circumstances take place. Nowadays public knows everything from Panchayat to Parliament. They can no longer be deceived by playing politics. People have always remembered and honoured those who deliver their best. No leader has be ratified on the basis of his inefficiency. Given the political will even the most long standing dispute can be resolved within a limited time frame. Eventually truth is a dominating factor. Violence can easily multiply when the rules meant for curbing it are violated. In Kashmir people hardly witness the guilty being brought to book (except in some rare cases where public pressure is at its high). Should the accused get a penalty once, then it is certain that the root cause of the problem would be addressed. What is the fun of governance if rulers are being dictated by others even in the internal issues? With regard to present situation in Kashmir, people also need to change their traditional mindset. People should never succumb to their emotions when they are not going to attain something in their favour. There is no fun in repeating the same state of affairs time and again when fruits have been experienced in past. Both sides (affected and the authorities) must believe in peaceful and smart innovations in dealing with the protests so that the wheel of life moves on smoothly.
