Expedite work on model villages: Sagar

Srinagar, July 1: The Minister for Rural Development, Ali Muhammad Sagar today asked the officers to expedite work on the remaining model villages till July 30.
Addressing a meeting of the Rural Development Department, he asked the officers to expedite work on various flagship schemes of the RDD so that the benefit percolates to the targeted populace and the funds earmarked for the same were utilized in a proper manner. He also asked them to involve local representatives so that the schemes were properly executed.
Terming MGNREGA as potential tool of employment generation and changing the rural landscapes of the state, he said remarkable progress had been made in the implementation of this scheme and the same was also ratified by the Prime Minister during his visit to the state. He said Rs. 560 crore had been earmarked for the current year and we should ensure that the same was utilized to maximum so that additionalties could be projected for the next year.
He asked the officers to release the arrears on account of enhancement of wages under MGNERGA from Rs 70 to Rs 110 with effect from August 10, 2009 till date. He also asked the officers to provide work to the job card holders under the scheme within 15 days and also release the wages immediately.
He asked the officers to submit a status report of various schemes, so that they could be effectively monitored. He directed them to submit the statements against the expenditure provided to them within 15 days
Sagar asked the officers to fill the posts under MGNERGA immediately time so that the scheme gets the requisite human resource needed for speedy implementation.
