Mir for setting up of NABARD units in districts

Srinagar, July 1: For boosting the farm sector in the state, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has called upon the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to establish its units at District headquarters in J&K. The Minister said this when General Manager, NABARD, called on him today. Mir hoped that the NABARD would play a pivotal role for encouraging the farming community by providing them agriculture loans at minimal rate of interest, adding that the Bank also has the provision in this regard. He asked the concerned for creating awareness about the programmes and schemes launched by the NABARD for enhancement of agricultural production. The Minister, according to an official statement, asked the NABARD authorities for active cooperation in proper implementation of crop insurance, post-harvesting and value addition schemes in the State.
