Srinagar, July 20: Two militants including a top commander and a trooper were killed in a gunfight in Hygam area of Sopur in North Kashmir’s Varmul district on Tuesday.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that a fierce gunfight broke out in Hygam this afternoon after troopers and Special Operations Group personnel of police cordoned off the house of Abdul Ahad Yatoo.

“Two militant were killed in the gunfight and the firing is still on,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sopur, Harmeet Singh, told Greater Kashmir.
The killed soldier was identified as Sanjay Kumar of Rashtriya Rifles, sources said.
Meanwhile, militants fired on the camp of forces in Litter Pulwama last night. However, no one was injured in the brief exchange of fire.

FIRING ON JAMMU BORDER:

Pakistani troops targeted the Chak Phagwari Border Out Post (BoP) in Pargawal sub-sector, 20 kms from here, with mortars and small arms fire around 2200 hours last night, BSF officials said today.
Indian troops retaliated and the firing continued for over two-and-a-half hours intermittently.
