Prevailing situation

This refers to article “This rage has a reason' by Hamida Nayeem (GK July 17). The author deserves applauds for presenting a clear picture of the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The vicious cycle of violence in Kashmir has devoured 17 innocent lives in the past three weeks. The common man is facing a bizarre situation. There seems no end to the violence as the chain of killings still continues and the death dances. Enforcing curfews and restrictions will aggravate the problem for the state government which is already under tremendous pressure. The coercion and deterrence by security forces can't do any good in bringing about peace in Kashmir. Peace cannot be enforced by gun. Right now there is chaos and confusion. The state government should do something immediately to save Kashmir from sinking.
