Bhim Singh meets Geelani in sub-jail

Srinagar, Jul 21: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Chairman Prof Bhim Singh met the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Cheshmashahi sub-jail here on late Tuesday evening, a JKNPP spokesman said.
The JKNPP leader, according to the spokesman, invited Geelani, who was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) on June 20, to share a common platform with him at Lal Chowk on July 28 so that a political process could be launched to mobilize the opinion of people for peace to return.
Prof Singh told Greater Kashmir that he had told Geelani that he would file a petition in Supreme Court to get his detention under PSA quashed. “However, Geelani Sahib refused. He is aware about the recent killings and reiterated that the movement will continue till right to self-determination is granted to Kashmiris,” he said.
Singh maintained that this was a mere courtesy call. “I have shared bench with Geelani Sahib and Abdul Ghani Lone Sahib in Assembly. We were together in jails too. We might have different ideologues but we share an emotional bond,” he said.
Singh also extended invitation to all political parties and people to participate in his program on July 28..
