Vohra Worried Over Disruption Of Academic Schedule

Srinagar, July 21: Expressing serious concern over the disruption of the academic schedule due to the prevailing unrest in the Valley, the Governor NN Vohra has decided to convene a meeting of the Vice-Chancellors and State Education authorities to identify various remedial steps to be taken in this regard.
The Governor’s concern was conveyed to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah at meeting between the two at Raj Bhavan here Wednesday.
The Chief Minister, according to an official spokesman, briefed the Governor about the recent developments and the prevailing situation in the State.
The Governor expressed his serious concern about the grave consequences of the disruption of the academic schedules, resulting in the closure of schools, colleges and universities. To identify various possible remedial steps it was agreed that the Governor, alongwith the Chief Minister, would convene an urgent meeting with the Vice-Chancellors and the State Education authorities.
The Chief Minister also informed the Governor about his recent visit to New Delhi and the meetings he had with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi and the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram.
The Chief Minister apprised the Governor about the ongoing meetings of the various District Development Boards and the steps being taken to speed up the implementation of development and welfare schemes.
