‘GEELANI IS MY YOUNGER BROTHER, RELEASE HIM’

Srinagar, July 23: Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Rasool Kar on Friday accused former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad of not cooperating with the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President, Prof Saifuddin Soz.
In an interview to a local news agency KNS, Kar said that Congress party in JK is in “doldrums” due to Azad’s indifferent attitude. “Indiscipline, infighting and other problems are galore within the party and these need to be taken care of,’ he added.
He said that if Soz allowed him he would launch a campaign to strengthen his party in the state.
Kar accused Azad of mishandling the situation during Amarnath land agitation in 2008. “Stone pelting started in Azad’s rule and his wrong decisions triggered massive state wide agitation,” he added.
Describing the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani as his younger brother Kar said,
“Geelani is 10-yrs younger to me but he chose a wrong a path.”
He demanded Geelani’s immediate release. “I want to tell him that Kashmir can never become a part of Pakistan.”
Referring to the ongoing agitation, Kar said that Kashmir needs to be resolved politically.
Taking a dig at the union minister for new and renewable energy Dr Farooq Abdullah and the chief minister, Omar Abdullah, Kar said, “ Father-son duo have got no courage to go to the people.”
