30 kids hospitalized after vaccination

Rajouri, July 27: Thirty babies were hospitalized in Mendhar when they fell unconscious after allegedly being administered expired vaccine.
 The condition of four babies was stated to be critical. However, Block Medical Officer Mendhar said the situation was under control and there was “nothing to worry.”
 Sources said, panic gripped in Mendhar and other localities on Tuesday when the news of expiry medicine injected in the babies spread in area. They said, at least 70 children most of them babies between the age group of day one to six months were injected routine vaccine in the hospital. However, soon after the medicine was injected to the children they fell unconscious. 
 The parents returned to the hospital and admitted their children. Twenty six children were discharged after treatment; however, the condition of four children was still critical.
 When contacted, Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr, Zulifkar Chowdhary said most of the children were discharged after the first aid however four of them were still under treatment. However, BMO didn’t fix the responsibility on anyone. Meanwhile, the people protested against the incident demanded action against the hospital administration.
