Thousands attend Namaz-e-Jinazah

Sopur, July 27: Thousands of people participated in the Namaz-e-Jinazah of revered darvish Ahad Sahib in north Kashmir’s Sopur town on Tuesday.
All the roads were leading to the Nowpora ground where people from all parts of Valley converged and participated in his Namaz-e-Jinazah. He was laid to rest at Noorbagh Sopur adjacent to his house this evening.
Ahad Sahab was born in religious family of Sopur in 1920’s and his father, Peer Muhammad Ahsan was a religious scholar.
DEMISE MOURNED
The Governor, N N Vohra, has expressed grief over the sad demise. He recalled his meeting with Ahad Sahib last summer at the latter’s residence and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and the devotees of darvish.
Peoples’ Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti in her condolence message said Ahad Sahab had contributed in a big way for the betterment of society and his death had created a void that would be difficult to fill.
Bhartiya Janata Party also expressed deep sorrow over the demise and termed it a great loss.
JKLF delegation visits Sopur  
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front has expressed sorrow and grief over Ahad Sahib’s demise.
In a statement here, a JKLF delegation, led by its vice-chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, on the instructions of the chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, visited Sopur on Tuesday and participated in the Namaz-e-Jinaza of Ahad Sahab.
Speaking on the occasion, advocate Bhat  said that Ahad Sahab’s demise has come  as a great shock for Kashmiris and it is an irreparable loss.. He extended condolences of Muhammad Yasin Malik to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, Front has strongly condemned the arrest and harassment of Kashmiri youth across the Valley.
The JKLF spokesman alleged that its leaders and activists, who had taken part in court arrest programme, were being harassed by the CID and CIK personnel in Islamabad district.
 He also strongly condemned the custodial killing of Tariq Ahmad by police in Rafiabad.
