Dr Drabu to speak at European Parliament

Srinagar, July 27: In a notable development, Dr Haseeb A Drabu, chairman and CE, Jammu and Kashmir Bank has been invited to deliver a lecture at the 7th International Leadership Symposium being organized at the European Parliament, Brussels on 18-19 November 2010.
The Conference, organized by the World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB), in which the World Bank Institute and the International Association for Human Values are partnering organizations, is an annual event which brings together prominent leaders from business, politics, academia, civil society and religious organizations to dialogue on the pressing need to strengthen human values and ethics in business and in leadership. The recipients of the WFEB Ethics in Business Award, which honors individuals and companies that have demonstrated the importance of ethics in life and in the business arena, will also be announced at the Conference.
The theme of this year’s Conference, “Leadership in the 21st Century – Time for a Paradigm Shift?!” stems from the need to reconsider leadership styles and strategies in the face of the ongoing social and economic challenges worldwide. In particular, the Conference will examine new leadership styles that are sustainable and ensure profitability for businesses, and explore whether business and ethics are complementary or contradictory.
Among others, the prominent speakers who will be attending the Symposium, include Jean Paul Carteron, Chairman and Founder, Crans Montana Forum, Walter Schwimmer, chairman, International Coordination Committee, World Public Forum, Dialogue of Civilizations, Niels Christiansen, Vice-President - Public Affairs, Nestle, Madhu Rao, CEO, Shangri-La Group, Dr Daniel Dirks, Executive Vice-President, Allianz SE, Group Human Resources, Prof Michael Luger, Dean, Manchester Business School, Dr Brigitte Mohn, Executive Board Member, Bertelsmann Stiftung and Hon Bob Rae, Member of Parliament, Toronto Center; Foreign Affairs Critic, Liberal Party of Canada.
Over the past six years, Nobel Laureates, political leaders and top executives from global companies such as Microsoft Corporation, Coca Cola, Infosys, ING Bank, GMR Group, Daimler AG and Tata Services have participated in this event.
Pertinently, The World Forum for Ethics and Business is a registered public interest foundation with the aim to pursue and establish the indispensable ethical foundations of business in a globalized world.
