Dr Haseeb Drabu rides pillion
M HYDERI
Srinagar: The JK Bank Chief Executive, Dr Haseeb Drabu wouldn’t perhaps have it in his wildest imaginations that to reach a crucial bank meeting, he would ride pillion to a biker. But this is exactly what happened Tuesday morning when Dr Drabu flew back to Srinagar from the port City of Mumbai.
The moment Dr Drabu’s cavalcade drove out of the Srinagar International Airport, it got stuck in a traffic jam.
Finding the gridlock too long to be made way through, the JK Bank CE came out of his vehicle. Escorted by PSOs, he started walking down the Airport Road to reach the JK Bank corporate headquarters where he was scheduled to chair a crucial bank meeting.
At around 10:30, a biker Showkat Parray like many others was surprised to see the prominent banker on a Padth Yatra.
Parray, a media man heading towards the Airport, offered lift to this leading economist. And to his surprise, Dr Drabu spontaneously accepted the offer with a smile on his face.
“I was surprised that such a prominent figure accepted the offer from a passer-by who was riding a bike,” recaps Parray.
Dr Drabu shed his escort and sat pillion to the man on the Hero Honda CBZ.
“Drabu Sahib said he had to attend a crucial meeting,” and I accelerated the bike making way through the gridlocks.
On way, the celebrity pillion, attracted many a passer-by. But the CE rode silently till the bike reached the JK Bank corporate headquarters at TRC.
The gatekeeper couldn’t believe his eyes that the bike he stopped for security check was ferrying the big boss.
The board meet was scheduled to start at 11:30 AM. But before that the CE reached in time on a bike. The ride he will perhaps never forget for it couldn’t be in his wildest imaginations, like those who saw him pillion!
