Goli Maro

This refers to the news in Greater Kashmir tiled “Abdullah’s Kashmir Ko Goli Maro, draws flak” (GK, July 27). Well, the idea of the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, is not bad. He is right when he says that the entire Kashmir should be fired upon. I guess that is the official policy of the National Conference now, given the recurring civilian killings at the hands of troops and cops in the Valley. However, Dr Abdullah seems to be oblivious of the fact that he too belongs to Kashmir. So the fire can engulf him too. What is disturbing to note is that the senior politician, who has spent at least 50 years in politics, has the audacity to make such statements publicly. Kashmir Ko Goli Maro phenomenon is not new. What is new is that such things are now being executed publicly, which even Israel doesn’t do!
