Lawyers continue protest
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 27: Lawyers across the Valley on Tuesday boycotted courts and continued their demonstrations to protests the arrest of High Court Bar Association president, Mian Abdul Qayoom and its general secretary, G N Shaheen, who have been booked under PSA.
Scores of lawyers staged demonstrations at Saddar Court complex here and raised slogans. They threatened to intensify protests if Qayoom and Wani were not released forthwith.
“Both shall be released without any delay. Besides, hundreds of youth who have been detained in different police stations shall also be released.”
The lawyers announced their support for doctors who have been booked for staging protests against the civilian killings and rights violations. “We extend our cooperation and will offer full legal assistances to the medicos. They need not to worry.”
The fraternity urged the traders not to sell goods at exorbitant prices and exhibit collective responsibility, at this crucial juncture for the “national interest.”
Addressing lawyers, advocate Muhammad Amin said, “We make a fervent appeal to all the traders especially those dealing with daily consumption articles including food items, medicine and other day to day articles to reduce the prices of the food by cutting the profit,” he said.
