Bhim Singh detained
UMER MAQBOOL DAR
Srinagar, July 28: The government on Wednesday foiled a march by National Panthers Party by detaining its Chairman, Bhim Singh, along with two dozen activists here.
Singh along with his party activists tried to march towards Lal Chowk from Press Enclave this morning where they had proposed to initiate a political process for the ‘return of democracy and rule of law’ in the state and in favour of their demand of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s dismissal.
As they tried to proceed, the police swung into action, bundled them in vehicles and lodged them in Kothi-Bagh police station. However they were released in the evening.
“The police used force to quell our programme at Lal Chowk. We are demanding dismissal of this murderous government. The government has failed completely to protect people and innocents are being killed,” Panthers Party MLC Syed Rafiq Shah told Greater Kashmir.
He said that activists of the party were also stopped at Parimpora, Sanat Nagar and Rajbagh.
The party had invited all political parties including separatist groups to participate in their programme for ‘initiating real political process in the state.’
