Funds employees defer election
Srinagar: Funds Employees Association, at a meeting here on Tuesday with its election commissioner, Zaffarullah Khan in chair, decided to defer the proposed presidential election in view of prevailing situation in Valley.
The meeting was attended by Nidhan Singh and Ajaz Ahmad Khan from Srinagar, Muzaffar Ahmad Yatoo from Islamabad, Riyaz Ahmad Bukhari from Varmul, Muhammad Yousuf Jan from Bandipora, Daljit Singh and B A Makhdoomi from SLI, Nissar Ahmad Shah from Pulwama and Aijaz Ahmad from Budgam. Besides, Asghar from Kargil and Dolma from Leh have telephonically conveyed their consents to Zaffar Ullah for the deferment of election.
All the district presidents and representatives from other districts present at the meeting, according to an Association statement, unanimously decided that Qaisar Andrabi will continue to function as president till the election is held.
The meeting, according to statement, was called by Zaffarullah Khan.
