Government trying to divide Kashmiris: Aasiya

Make sit-in programme successful today

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, July 28: Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi on Wednesday accused the Government of trying to create urban-rural divide to suppress the ongoing protests.
Aasiya took strong exception to the statement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in which he had stated that by observing strikes, students of Srinagar would remain illiterate while their counterparts in rural area will excel in all fields including education.
“Little does the Government know that our movement is not against urban versus rural Kashmir. It is of all Kashmiris. People across the Valley have rendered sacrifices for taking the movement to its logical conclusion. Government is frustrated by unity among Kashmiris. Its attempts to divide Kashmiris won’t be successful,” she said.
Aasiya hailed the statement of Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani in which he had maintained that unless all the persons who were arrested during the ongoing unrest were released, he would prefer to remain in jail.
“Geelani Sahib as always has risen above his personal interests and set an example that of a realistic leader. By taking such stand, he has foiled the evil designs of the regime and security agencies,” she said.
Aasiya strongly condemned seizure of the trucks laden with relief material for people of the City. “Government is pursuing Israeli policy of even denying relief material to the people. The police and security agencies want to suppress the people who have offered sacrifices for the movement since 1947. This shows Government’s frustration to curb the spontaneous protests. New Delhi needs to read the writing on the wall,” she said.
She appealed the people to make the Hurriyat (G)’s sit-in program for Thursday successful. “People should take to streets in respective localities and stage peaceful sit-ins. Special langars should be organised for the people,” she said.
