Srinagar, July 28: The acting chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi has reiterated his appeal to the people to continue peaceful sit-in protests on July 29, and offer Friday prayers at district headquarters on July 30.
Declaring Haji Masjid Sharief, Maisuma, as headquarter for Srinagar, Sumjhi appealed to the people of Srinagar to make it to Maisuma on July 30, and stage peaceful protests there after Friday prayers.
Condemning the seizure of relief trucks coming from south Kashmir to Srinagar by the police, Sumjhi reiterated his appeal to the people to further strengthen the local relief committees to support poor and deserving.
Saluting the firm resolve and determination of incarcerated senior leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and thousands others including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Gen Musa, Mir Hafizullah, advocate G N Shaheen, Ashiq Hussain, Dr Muhammad Qasim, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Ayaz Akbar, Muhammad Yousuf Mujahid, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, the Hurriyat acting general secretary said detentions and other repressive acts by the government could not break their determination and prevent them from pursuing struggle for freedom.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday alleged that there was no let up in the raids on the residences of Hurriyat and Tehreek leaders and activists by the police and other forces’ agencies.
In a statement today, a spokesman of the Tehreek said the police today raided the residence of its district president for Shopian Shakeel Ahmad Yattoo, the secretary district Budgam Farooq Ahmad Gutapori, Muhammad Syed of Dadasar and other members. “The police even conducts the raids on the residences of the relatives of Tehreek leaders and activists,” he added.
