Inquiry Commissions eyewash: Mirwaiz

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, July 28: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday termed the formation of Inquiry Commission to probe the civilian killings as a mere eye wash.
“It is an attempt to hoodwink the people and international community. Every time there is a killing, the government announces inquiry into it. Ironically, its findings are never made public,” Mirwaiz said in a statement.
“History stands testimony to the fact that how the inquiry commissions have functioned in Kashmir. They are formed just to divert attention from the real issues,” Mirwaiz said.
He said the conglomerate has already called for peaceful protests will go on till the troopers are not shifted from the civilian areas, AFSPA revoked and all the political prisoners released.
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat spokesman condemned placing Mirwaiz under continuous house arrest. He said Mirwaiz was not allowed to even offer prayers at Jamia Masjid on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat. “We strongly condemn the Government’s autocratic policies. This is an infringement into the religious affairs,” he said.
The spokesman condemned the seizure of relief material and arbitrary arrests. “This is part of the Israeli policy to suppress the resistance movement for right to self-determination. It is ironically that the youth, doctors and lawyers were booked for protesting against the civilian killings by the police and troopers. This is sheer harassment to quell the movement,” he said.
