Varmul court acquits 8 youth in infant death case

Varmul, July 28: A court on Wednesday acquitted eight youth accused of being involved in death of an infant during protests.
The first additional session judge Varmul, Muhammad Yousuf Wani, acquitted eight accused from charges under various sections.
The case has been transferred to judicial magistrate court for trial and the date has been fixed on July 31.
The court directed Deputy Superintendent of police sub jail Varmul to ensure production of the accused before the transferee court.
According to case details by the prosecution, an information was received by the police station Varmul on February 22 that at Stadium Colony Varmul a group of stone pelters boarded a vehicle of unknown registration numbers and raised objectionable slogans and forcibly de-boarded the passengers from the vehicles coming from Rafiabad with a view to enforce a hartal.
The prosecution details said these persons also dragged a woman Kulsooma with the intention to kill her whereby a neonate in her lap namely Irfan Ahmad Magray got killed while her another son four-year-old Ubaid was injured.
A case FIR No 47/2010 was registered under sections 302,307,148,149,336,341 RPC, (public properties prevention of damages) Act.
