ERRA completes rehab of quake houses

Muzaffarabad, July 2: The Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) has completed the reconstruction of 4,19,624 homes and 6100 rebuilding projects in quake stricken areas of Pakistan administered Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa, official said.
“96 percent survivors of October 8, 2005’s devastating earthquake in AJK and Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa have rebuild their houses with the help of cash grant provided to them by the government and reconstruction of 16000 house is underway,” Director General planning ERRA Tariq Bajwa told the ambassadors of European Union during their visit here on Thursday.
“An amount of Rs 49.067 billion have been distributed among the earthquake survivors of AJK. 98 percent of whom have reconstructed their homes as per the guide lines provided to them by the authorities,” said Dr Syed Asif Hussain, secretary state’s ERRA.
He said the reconstruction of private housing was no more an issue in AJK and this program has become a flagship program.
