Struggle indigenous: Mirwaiz
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 2: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Friday reiterated that the ongoing Kashmir struggle has been purely indigenous since 1947.
“Whenever the people of Jammu Kashmir intensify their struggle for freedom, Indian rulers try to shift blame on Pakistan to mislead the international community,” Mirwaiz, who continues to be under house arrest, said in a statement.
“The ongoing freedom movement is our own and we have been offering sacrifices of life and property since 1947. Troopers have been indulging in the worst kind of human rights violations to break our resolve. But Kashmiris have been continuing their struggle despite continued killings, massacres, arrests and other atrocities,” he said.
Mirwaiz castigated the government for not allowing people to offer Friday congregational prayers at various Masjids, including Jamia Masjid, in old city. “It is direct interference in our religious matters and we won’t tolerate it,” he added.
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat spokesman said that its leaders led demonstrations in Islamabad, Budgam and Kupwara, against recent killings. He condemned the use of force on the peaceful protesters at Kralpora, Budgam.
He also expressed strong resentment over, “wrong report” regarding Amarnath Yatra aired by a New Delhi based news channel. “The channel has vainly tried to whip up communal passions by airing wrong and misleading reports on Yatra,” he added.
