Supporting killings
I am sure that while I am writing this out as a mark of protest against the killings of innocents the troops will have killed or at least injured some more innocents. And when it comes to getting Army back, they are notorious in the whole valley for the worst kinds of human rights violation. The unethical, immoral and inhuman statement made by Army’s V. K. Singh and Jaswal bears ample testimony to that. The things are not going to change at all for the common people whether it is Kashmir Police, Army, BSF or CRPF because they are receiving the dictations from the people at the centre and are backed and shielded by them. The most painful thing is that the so called representatives are watching the killings as mute spectators for they have no control over the unruly forces and one of the ministers even made a public confession of it but they do not have the conscience to give up their chairs as a mark of protest because their claims are hollow. Any man having sound moral principles and humanistic outlook will not only condemn it but also raise his voice against what is happening here but perhaps, to be a politician, is to be a degraded one as Machiavellianism and politics are used synonymously at least in Kashmir valley, where on the one hand, they give license to troops to kill people and on the other hand, they express their artificial concern for Kashmiris. I am sure that all of us were very disgusted with the way GoI gave clean chit to CRPF, in other words, encouraging them to go ahead with their cold-blooded killings instead of reining them in.
One of the ministers at the centre, in an attempt to save his skin and shield the troops said that some antinational elements are exploiting the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Samuel Johnson’s quote fits well to describe the people of this mindset which reads like, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel”.
The Indian leadership is doing no good to their own nation by acting so parochially.
